Steffan and Natalie Sheehey met while in school at the University of Hawaii. He is an Iowa native and she is a California girl, both serve in the U.S. Air Force. Love of the ocean and reminders of a Pacific lifestyle, were fresh in their minds and hearts. With help from MKMH, he is the son of Kris McVicker, they found a perfect spot for their new home in the budding young family community of Norwalk.
Custom carpentry throughout the home was designed and created by Steffan with some help from his mom, who just so happens to be Kris McVicker. He started to admire and grew to love carpentry from a young age and apprenticed for his uncle, a California wooden boat builder. His collaboration with his mom on the carpentry makes this custom home a little extra custom.
Colors and accents inspired by the ocean views are the focal point outside and inside. The white, stucco exterior, with wave-like rooflines, mimic a shore house. Inside, shades of blue, green and natural beiges show off accessories, furniture and personal objects that remind them of their time together on the island.
